THE BUTCHER BOX: SOLAR ENERGY INNOVATION IN NIGERIA
Two nigerian startups, PAMAfrica and Protein Pack limited have come together to create the butcher box, a revolutionary device specifically tailored to small scale meat vendors. The butcher box is a portable, solar powered cold room that comes fitted with solar panels on its roof, an inverter, a battery, a fridge and a portable scale.
PAM Africa is a clean-tech company mainly focused on delivering solutions to enable the acceleration of renewable energy transition. Its purpose remains to provide clean, affordable and reliable power to Africa. PAM Africa builds, owns and operates large-scale, long-life energy assets primarily in networks and renewables that deliver fair returns and high societal value.
The butcher box employs the use of clean technology to provide a safe and cost effective method of buying, selling and preserving fresh meat. It’s design was created particularly with the safety of the traders, especially female traders and their goods in mind. It features a safety lock and an almost impenetrable metal encasing to ensure that everything within the butcher box is guarded at all times.
The brains behind the creation of the Butcher Box, Dr. Patrick Agese of PAMAfrica and Adedeji Abdullahi created it to provide an environmentally friendly, healthy and cost effective method for meat vendors to process their meet, store it and interact with customers, powered by clean technology.
